The Practical Leadership Approach

Why haven’t we got leadership in health and aged care right yet?

Surely it’s a simple combination of managing the individual, the contextual, and the collective?

The holistic care required as today’s hallmark of contemporary health, aged and community care requires more – it requires emotional intelligence, real world experience, and people bringing their whole selves to work.

We hear constantly from executives that they need leaders who know the business, who can address the business, who know themselves and who know how to manage themselves.

They want leaders who can inspire and paint a clear and compelling future for their teams. They can instruct and support their teams to get involved and deliver great care.

So this is what you'll find in our 7-step Practical Leadership framework: Inspiration, Instruction and Involvement.

Practical Leadership helps people grow as leaders wherever they are.

Practical Leadership combines emotional intelligence with real world tools and guidance for everyday use - a unique combination of personal, professional and organisational to support the delivery of a great client experience.

The Program

Practical Leadership is 6-month action-learning based program of assessments, workshops, projects, and coaching.

We coach people to recognise and develop their potential to become conscious, compassionate and confident leaders.

We review your leadership strategy and maximise the potential of your people to effectively support your organisation.

We enable individuals and teams to consistently apply their strengths and capabilities in practical ways that best benefit themselves, their clients, and their organisation.

Distributed Leadership

We want you to re-examine where your organisation's leadership and strongest influence are – then think where you need to build people’s capabilities for a more effective organisation.

  • Do your leaders understand their strengths and capabilities, and how they contribute to the organisation?
  • Do they bring their whole selves to work?
  • Are these leaders hidden away in offices, or are they at the point of care delivering great service to improve your clients experience?

Emotionally Intelligent Leadership

Client experience is vastly improved with emotionally intelligent staff who can manage themselves and others effectively in the organisational context.

Emotional intelligence is self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management.

  • Are your staff curious on a regular basis about how they could do better?
  • Are they able to step back from the daily treadmill and look at their client, their team, and their organisation to get better insight into what's needed?
  • Are they courageous enough to do the right thing, and capable of doing it?
